Quality and inspection

Quality starts with a requirement that can be checked.

Inspection, certificates and traceability work best when the product scope and acceptance basis are defined before material is ordered. Use this page to structure the questions that belong in the RFQ.

Before inspection

Three things should be clear before a quality request is useful.

A material certificate or inspection result only has meaning when it is tied to the actual supply and the agreed acceptance requirement.

01 / SCOPE

Identify the supplied item

State the product form, grade, dimensions, quantity, delivery condition and any processing that affects the inspection scope.

02 / ACCEPTANCE

Define what is checked

Set the applicable standard, tolerances, surface condition, test method and sampling basis required for acceptance.

03 / EVIDENCE

Request the documents

Specify the certificate, test report, marking and traceability information needed with the shipment.

Inspection route

Bring quality requirements into the enquiry before quotation.

Build an RFQ
01 / PREPARE

State the requirement

Describe the product, specification and inspection points that are already known.

02 / REVIEW

Confirm the practical route

Review availability, capability, testing and documentary needs for the specific supply.

03 / RECORD

Connect evidence to material

Keep the agreed result linked to the supplied lot, marking and required certificate.

Documentation and traceability

Documents should match the material and the agreed scope.

The needed evidence depends on the product, the application and the contract. Ask for what must be traceable rather than treating every document as interchangeable.

01

Certificate

Identify the certificate format and the properties or tests it needs to report for the order.

02

Traceability

Connect the material marking, heat or lot reference and supplied documents where the project requires it.

03

Inspection record

Define whether additional inspection, witness points, third-party review or special reporting is required.

Stainless steel material identification and batch marking
Material identification Reserved for marking, heat or batch identity
Stainless steel inspection and dimensional measurement
Inspection activity Reserved for measurement or verification
Stainless steel quality certificates and inspection test records
Quality documents Reserved for certificate or test-record context

Useful limits

Quality planning is stronger when open points are visible.

Do not replace an unknown standard, test method or acceptance limit with a generic statement. Flag it in the enquiry for confirmation.

REFERENCE DATA

Not the same as order acceptance

A technical page can help frame a request, but the agreed product specification controls final acceptance.

TEST RESULTS

Need their test basis

A result needs the applicable method, sample, condition and scope before it can support an acceptance decision.

SUPPLIER REVIEW

Confirms the live enquiry

Availability, lead time, commercial terms and actual documents are confirmed for the specific supply request.
