Pipe Schedule Calculator

Estimate pipe inside diameter and metal cross-section from outside diameter, wall thickness and schedule information.

Pipe Schedule Calculator

Enter nominal size, schedule, outside diameter and wall thickness.

FormulaInside diameter (mm) = outside diameter − 2 × wall thickness. Metal area = π × (OD² − ID²) ÷ 4.

Enter values and keep the result with the quotation assumptions.

Calculation result

Enter values and calculate.

Use the calculated result for early planning, then confirm the specification and supplier data before ordering.

  • Inside diameter check
  • OD, wall and schedule inputs
  • Dimensional review before quotation

Technical reference

Pipe Schedule Calculator basis and limits

This calculator checks the geometric relationship between pipe outside diameter, wall thickness and inside diameter for schedule discussions.

Confirm the governing pipe standard, nominal size, schedule table, tolerance, pressure class and supplier documentation before ordering.

Important Use the result for quotation preparation and early planning; it does not replace a certified measurement, drawing review or supplier confirmation.

Calculation method

Formula and worked example

01

Pipe Schedule Calculator formula

Use the inputs and units shown in the calculator, then review the assumptions before using the estimate.

Inside diameter (mm) = outside diameter − 2 × wall thickness. Metal area = π × (OD² − ID²) ÷ 4.
02

Worked example

A 60.3 mm outside diameter pipe with a 3.91 mm wall has an inside diameter of approximately 52.48 mm.

ID = OD − 2 × wall thickness = 60.3 − 2 × 3.91 ≈ 52.48 mm.
