Mesh Weight Calculator

Estimate stainless steel wire mesh weight from wire diameter, aperture, sheet dimensions, density and quantity.

Mesh Weight Calculator

Enter wire diameter, aperture, width, length, density and quantity.

FormulaMesh weight (kg/m²) ≈ π × wire diameter² × density ÷ [2 × (wire diameter + aperture)]. Total weight = kg/m² × width × length × quantity.

Enter values and keep the result with the quotation assumptions.

Calculation result

Enter values and calculate.

Use the calculated result for early planning, then confirm the specification and supplier data before ordering.

  • Wire diameter and aperture estimate
  • Area and quantity inputs

Mesh Weight Calculator basis and limits

This calculator provides a planning estimate for square wire mesh using wire diameter, aperture and supplied material density.

Confirm mesh count, opening tolerance, wire gauge, weave type, edge condition, finish and supplier certificate before purchasing.

Important Use the result for quotation preparation and early planning; it does not replace a certified measurement, drawing review or supplier confirmation.

Calculation method

Formula and worked example

01

Mesh Weight Calculator formula

Use the inputs and units shown in the calculator, then review the assumptions before using the estimate.

Mesh weight (kg/m²) ≈ π × wire diameter² × density ÷ [2 × (wire diameter + aperture)]. Total weight = kg/m² × width × length × quantity.
02

Worked example

A square mesh with 2 mm wire, 10 mm aperture and 7.93 g/cm³ density weighs approximately 4.153 kg/m².

π × 2² × 7.93 ÷ [2 × (2 + 10)] ≈ 4.153 kg/m².
